faculty at graduation event

People

The Environmental Studies Department is home to a passionate and welcoming group of people who are dedicated to excellence in research and teaching. Our faculty are often recognized with high-profile grants, top-tier publications, and prominent advisory roles with governments, nonprofits, academic organizations, and more.

Meanwhile, our exceptional staff guide undergraduate and graduate students through a wide variety of degree pathways and help to steward many experiential learning and research opportunities across campus. Postdoctoral scholars in the department serve a critical role in advancing our research mission by enhancing our research projects and supplementing graduate student mentoring within faculty lab groups. They also contribute a diversity of skills and learning experiences from their Ph.D. institutions.

And our graduate students are diverse, sustainability-driven researchers and mentors, who often present at conferences, collaborate with faculty on major publications, and win prestigious grants and fellowships from organizations like the National Science Foundation and the United States Department of Agriculture.
